Sbrinz is produced in 30 selected valley and alpine cheese dairies in Central Switzerland. Sbrinz must be produced with milk from the region and stored within the area of origin – no ecologically unfriendly transport.

Geographical areas

  1. The Cantons of Lucerne, Schwyz, Ob- and Nidwalden, Zoug, the district of Muri (Canton of Argovie) and the communities of Obersteckholz, Lotzwil and Langenthal (Canton of Berne) 
  2. In the districts of See, Gaster and Neutoggenburg of the Canton of St. Gall, the milk pool areas for the cheese dairies Walde (8727 Walde), Steinenbrücke (8722 Kaltbrunn) and Schönenberg (9630 Wattwil)
